The theme of this conference was “Geospatial Technologies Tackling Global Challenges”. The content of research papers very well manifest the potential of GIS, Remote Sensing, UAVs, Ground Profiling Radar, LiDAR, and advanced data processing techniques in creating knowledge to tackle the complex issues. Some challenges which have been addressed are road accidents, precision agriculture to solve horticulture issue, paddy crop monitoring, iPhone LiDAR sensor for 3D surface assessment, Buried pipes mapping etc. I am sure the content is quite motivating for young researchers and amazing for the senior researchers how diverse geospatial applications to tackle global challenges are emerging. I express my sincere thanks to all the researchers who contributed their work in this special issue.</p> <p>I look forward more papers on similar applications from other countries. There are many other global challenges such as impacts of Covid 19 on socio-economic and geopolitical implications. Climate change continues to pose threats to sustainability of many sectors. I am sure lots of missions and projects are going on all SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). I will be very glad to have a special issue on this aspect in coming months.</p> <p>With warm regards to all the readers and reviewers of International Journal of Geoinformatics.</p> 2022-08-19T15:25:49-07:00 https://ijg.journals.publicknowledgeproject.org/index.php/journal/announcement/view/55 eJournal Issues: Volume 18, No. 3 June 2022 (Open Access with DOI) 2022-06-17T19:25:14-07:00 International Journal of Geoinformatics 2022-06-17T19:25:14-07:00 https://ijg.journals.publicknowledgeproject.org/index.php/journal/announcement/view/53 Table of Contents: Volume 18, No. 3 June 2022 2022-06-14T04:43:21-07:00 International Journal of Geoinformatics 2022-06-14T04:43:21-07:00 https://ijg.journals.publicknowledgeproject.org/index.php/journal/announcement/view/51 Vol. 18 No. 1 (2022): Volume 18, No.1 February 2022 - Special Issue on GISCA 2021 Conference 2022-02-24T23:35:30-08:00 International Journal of Geoinformatics <div class="kvgmc6g5 cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql ii04i59q"> <div dir="auto">Table of Contents</div> <div dir="auto">Vol. 18 No. 1 (2022): Volume 18, No.1 February 2022 - Special Issue on GISCA 2021 Conference</div> <div dir="auto"><a class="oajrlxb2 g5ia77u1 qu0x051f esr5mh6w e9989ue4 r7d6kgcz rq0escxv nhd2j8a9 nc684nl6 p7hjln8o kvgmc6g5 cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x jb3vyjys rz4wbd8a qt6c0cv9 a8nywdso i1ao9s8h esuyzwwr f1sip0of lzcic4wl gpro0wi8 py34i1dx" tabindex="0" role="link" href="https://journals.sfu.ca/ijg/index.php/journal/issue/view/237?fbclid=IwAR1mpc3eJ3O403Zx6TO8zOLPBPNxTOsjdd9XyMR5mOCEdgF7Sr-wxtGZU08" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">https://journals.sfu.ca/ijg/index.php/journal/issue/view/237</a></div> </div> <div class="cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q"> <div dir="auto">&nbsp;</div> </div> <div class="cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q"> <div dir="auto"><img src="https://journals.sfu.ca/ijg/public/site/images/ijglance/table-of-contents---vol.18-no.2-apr2022-001.png" alt="" width="539" height="739"></div> </div> 2022-02-24T23:35:30-08:00 https://ijg.journals.publicknowledgeproject.org/index.php/journal/announcement/view/49 eJournal Issues: Message from Editor-in-Chief for Vol.18, No.1 Feb2022 Special Issue on GISCA2021 2022-02-07T00:42:47-08:00 International Journal of Geoinformatics 2022-02-07T00:42:47-08:00 https://ijg.journals.publicknowledgeproject.org/index.php/journal/announcement/view/43 Geoinformatics Events 2021-08-29T19:46:07-07:00 International Journal of Geoinformatics 2021-08-29T19:46:07-07:00 https://ijg.journals.publicknowledgeproject.org/index.php/journal/announcement/view/41 Message from Editor-in-Chief for Vol.17, No.4 August 2021 Issue 2021-08-28T17:29:41-07:00 International Journal of Geoinformatics <p>From Editor-in-Chief</p> <p>Geoinformation technologies are being increasingly used in modeling the continuous transformation in the land use patterns of inland as well as coastal areas. These changes are normally the result of impacts of climate change, ocean current, disaster, or urbanization. This issue of International Journal of Geoinformatics is a very interesting collection of research papers. There is also one paper on the performance evaluation of GNSS receiver. There is a very useful research output presented by Maged and Van Genderen on Sea Surface Current Velocity Retrieval using TanDAM-X Satellite Data. This may be very useful in many future research or applications. Geographic Information System (GIS) is a powerful technique being frequently used in evaluating and planning healthcare facilities. This issue contains a paper on Evaluating the Accessibility of Healthcare Facility for Patients with Colon and Rectal Carcinoma in the State of Kelantan and Sabah in Malaysia. This makes this issue really a document to preserve as an excellent knowledge source for the natural resource management and also healthcare management. Several scientists have used the option of Open Access which gives them access to DOI. I am sure this will make their papers more visible and cited.</p> <p>Google CEO Sundar Pichai told the World Economic Forum the companies still believe the health industry remains the most-likely beneficiary of AI over the next decade, due to the technology’s potential to improve patient outcomes. Google is moving fast in implementing AI for diagnostic for various diseases and provide advance notice to the doctors. This will dramatically reduce mortality by giving doctors more time to act. The initiative by Google will no doubt bring expert doctors closer to the populations which have no or scarcity of doctors. AI and machine learning has been already implemented in GIS and many applications for disease modeling and forecasting such as Malaria etc. Many GIS software are coming out with add-ons of Machine learning, deep learning and AI in GIS and remote sensing packages. Google Earth Engine is providing data and machine learning tools free to users for image classification. This whole development has created a new ecosystem of the research direction based on the notions of AI.</p> <p>International Journal of Geoinformatics shall be bringing out a Special Issue on HealthGIS from selected and peer reviewed papers from 7th International Conf. on HealthGIS. This issue contains the report on the conference for your information. We are planning to conduct the next International Conference on HealthGIS in 2022 in December 2022 and hope that the world will be out of Covid infections and can start normal life by then. Please mark your calendar.</p> 2021-08-28T17:29:41-07:00 https://ijg.journals.publicknowledgeproject.org/index.php/journal/announcement/view/39 eJournal Issues: OPEN ACCESS! India has vastly suffered and many activities either adapted online work culture or hybrid mode to face the situation. I hope all the readers of IJG would have taken good precaution and could kept themselves away from Covid infection. International journal of Geoinformatics has also gone for the organic changes and adapted 100% online mode. This was done as postal services were hugely disturbed and in some countries it was non-existent. Now, the online version is published 6 times a year rather than 4 times in earlier hardcopy version. This has given advantages to author to see their accepted paper being published much earlier than before. Another very exciting news that will make you happy is that within one year the ranking i.e. Impact Factor of the journal has gone up from 0.28 to 049 in Scopus. This is a great encouragement to all of us and we will try to achieve greater than 1 Impact Factor in next ranking cycle.&nbsp; At this occasion, it is also a pleasure to inform now the journal has opened opportunities for our authors to make their papers as Open Access on a nominal cost. They will be having DOI for their papers and anyone can download their papers from any corners of the world.</p> <p>I would like to encourage researchers to focus on data science, machine learning, deep learning and also on artificial intelligence. These tools are going to extract deep knowledge hidden inside the data. I am sure this will bring out the amazing potential of geoinformatics for serving mankind with crucial knowledge by modeling and predicting future scenarios.
