Message from the Editor for June 2023 Issue

Abstract

This issue of the International Journal of Geoinformatics is Volume 19, Number 6 to be published in June 2023. This issue has four papers on natural disaster modeling and mapping. It contains flood studies from three countries Vietnam, Thailand, and Papua New Guinea. There is a very interesting study on landslides from volcano landforms in Indonesia.

In addition, there are two papers on using GIS for human health: Child malnutrition and its determinants and another on modeling of malaria trends. Children are the future of this world and India has embarked on a great mission called “Poshan Abhiyan” to ensure nutrition to all children, especially in economically stressed populations. This is a revolutionary mission by the government to develop a healthy population to contribute vigorously in the economic and social development of the nation. This issue also carries a paper on green tourism planning for coastal development. This paper uses geospatial simple techniques but the concept contains a bigger picture of ecological balance and sustainability aspect. I am sure it will motivate more researchers on promoting tourism especially the cultural, ecological, and historical using the geospatial stories build by its immaculate tools. This, I am sure has a great potential to connect the dots and integrate information from various sources and support various goals of SDGs.

I am not writing here about all papers as they are classical research papers and will surely contribute to future research and give direction for disaster management and also preventive measures for disease control.

My sincere gratitude to all researchers who contributed their work in this issue and also to all editors who have participated in the review process to ensure presentability and quality.
